Josh Olins and I came up with this idea of doing 80s icon story as it is for our Maximalist issue, March Issue.
We at first decided to do Boy George. However, we both weren't interested in doing him already appeared a lot and people easily recognized. As we did a lot of research on him, we found him with pale pink hair and wore punk fashion on a website called blitz kids, so we decided to create a story based on this.
We thought we would do just only male icons but included Glace Jones as she is really powerful and iconic.
As we worked on our brain storming, very sad news came in, Michael Jackson past away.
Then we lastly include his character as an hommage to him.
Josh and I both like this story so really happy to be nominated the Best Editorial 2009!!

３号目は装飾男子のテーマだったので、ビューティもトレンドだった８０'sのアイコンを
テーマにしてやろうとフォトグラファーのJosh Olinsと話して決めました。
まずは、BOY GEORGE。でもBOY GEORGEのよく出てる写真では無くて、ヘアーがペール
ピンクでちょっとパンクっぽい格好をした、ちょっとレアな写真をblitz kidsというサイトで見つけてそれをレファレンスにして、ストーリーの方向を決めて行きました。ウェブや写真集から30点くらいレファレンスを探して、その中から選んで行きました。
はじめは、男性の80'sアイコンだけで考えていたんだけど、Joshと話すうちにグレース・ジョーンズも入れても良いかもということになり、モデルも７ページあるので７〜８人使おうということになり、よりレファレンスに近いモデルをキャスティングして行きました。
そんななか、マイケル・ジャクソンの訃報のニュースが飛び込んで来たので、マイケルのオマージュもやろうということになりその写真がBeauty Coverになりました。ちなみにBlondieのDeborah Harryのアイデアもあったんだけど、モデルがキャンセルになってのでそれはやらずじまいで。。
他には、忌野清志郎と坂本龍一の「いけないルージュマジック」もJoshにyoutubeで動画を見せて、アイデアに入れたり、セルジュルタンスの80'sの資生堂の広告などからレファレンスを取って来て、ヘア、メイク、スタイリングもかなり忠実に作ってみようということで撮影しました。
Joshも僕も大好きなストーリーだったので、models.comのベストエディトリアルに選ばれてうれしかったです。

My Desk is So Mess!

My desk is soooooooo messyyyyyyyyyyy!
We are indeed closing our final proof for May issue the day after, so my desk has become chaotic...
Need to tidy up as soon as we close it....
Need to back to work....
５月号の校了を明後日に控え、机が日ごとに汚くなっていく。。。。
これじゃぁ、探している資料がすぐに出てこない。。。
でもそんなことをしている暇はない！
仕事に戻ります！

VOGUE JAPAN DOG

I last posted pictures of Grace Coddington's cats, so would like to introduce a dog at this time.
His name is Daichi, whose mother is the secretary to our President.
He often come to our office with his mother and make us feel really happy.
He is such an adorable and beautiful dog, so beloved one.
And he is really interesting because he always want to be huggy even he is a medium poodle, he jumps over someone's arms and stay there for a long time. so cute...

社長秘書Kimmyさんの愛犬、大地君が編集部に遊びに来てくれました！
とてもかわいくてお行儀がよくて甘えん坊。かなりの愛されドッグです。
小型犬ではないのに、だっこされるのが大好き。
よくジャンプして人の腕に乗っかってきます。
あーかわいい。
動物って素敵です。

I just bought a book "The Catwalk Cat" through Amazon.com.
I am a huge fan of Grace Coddington and love cats...
So adorable and beautiful cats!
Personally I like her Barts the most!!
It reminds me a popular cat called Mako chan over here, Japan.

Shaving Shaving!

I had my hair done yesterday... and shaved my side hair a little bit!
Inspired by Alice Dellal....no no I am joking.
Thanks ever so much as ALWAYS, IWAI SAN at bloc de gemmes! I've been to this hair salon over the past 5 years but he never disappointed me and go wrong even just once, always makes me surprised & happy by what he creates!
He is such genius xx

４年に一度の冬の祭典「ヴァンクーバー・オリンピック」が開幕！個人的には、やはり優雅なフィギュア・スケートが一番気になります。２３日に予定している浅田真央選手vsキム・ヨナ選手の対決はどうなるのでしょうか！
ところで先日、展示会で東京ミッドタウンに行って来たときのこと。ふと外を見ると、すぐ隣にアイススケートリンクが！東京のど真ん中、六本木でアイススケートが楽しめる！しかも屋外です！ ミーハーでなんでも試してみたいわたしたちアシスタントは、早速週末を利用して2010年初滑りを体験しに行ってきました。
でも、どうせ滑るならとことんおしゃれに楽しみたい私たちは、ファッションテーマを「フィギュア・スケート」に決定。ミュウ ミュウのドールワンピにレオパードのフェイク・ファーのコート。今年注目の柄オン柄のコーディネイトに挑戦。本誌ファッション・ディレクター・アンナに習ってマキシマリスト＝過剰なファッションも意識しつつ。。。。。調子にのってジバンシィの蛍光イエローのバッグを持ってみたり。

スケートリンクは、２月２８日まで開催中。
尚、イベントの売上金の一部はフォルクスワーゲン グループ ジャパン（株）をとおしてホッキョクグマ環境保護団体のチャリティにあてられるそうです。

It was a really nice team.
Kim Noorda was very polite and nice with us.

It was a little bit freezing in the studio but she could still model very well and was no problem for her even she had very light clothes on.....
That day I had also some guests at the shooting.
A group of student who won from IED Fashion School in Milan who won a contest that Anna Dello Russo was the chairman of the contest committee came to the set for few hours.
They were very excited and happy to have this great opportunity.
They asked questions and took pictures.

Since two of them are fashion designers and very good with hands, I've asked them to make the flower head piece that Kim was wearing with the long pink Fendi dress.

このストーリーのスタイリングを担当したオーロラ・サンソーネが撮影のエピソードを語ってくれました！

本当に素晴らしいスタッフが集まった撮影だったの。
モデルのキム・ノーダは礼儀正しくて人柄がナイスなのよ。
春夏の撮影だったから衣装が薄くて、その上スタジオのなかがちょっと寒かったから心配だったけど、キムはモデルとして素晴らしい動きをしてくれたわ。
そして、セットにはちょっとスペシャルなゲストも来ていたの。
彼らは、ミラノにあるIEDファッション・スクールの学生で、アンナ・デッロ・ルッソが審査委員長を務めたコンテストの優勝したご褒美に撮影を数時間見学に来ていたのよ。とても喜んでくれて色々質問したり、写真を撮っていたわ。

見学に来た学生のうち２人はファッション・デザイナーだったし、とても器用だったから、フラワーヘッドピースを急遽作ってくれないか頼んでみたの。彼らが作ってくれたヘッドピースはフェンディのドレスのカットで実際にキムがつけているものなのよ！

The most important thing for me regarding my outfits is the relationship with my personality. I love above all the SHIRTS: with precious fabrics like silk, or tailor-made in cotton, in a real Italian tradition...
In that picture above, I was wearing a MIU MIU orange silk shirt that I bought from its boutique in Milan few days before...and Marni pants from two seasons ago...
I buy my clothes in Milano, but also in New York during my work travels...
Yes, I always prefer to wear vivid colors (YELLOW; GREEN; ORANGE; BLUE)
I think because I'm from the south of Italy where there's always a sunny atmosphere, and also because I'm young and I'm doing the work of my dreams in fashion world.
For those reasons I feel happy and lucky, and I want to communicate with my positive energy also through my outfits...

コーディネイトを考える上で一番大切にしていることは、私という人間をちゃんとうつし出しているかどうかということ。
あとは、シャツが大好き。美しいシルクや、イタリアの伝統的なテイラードのシャツが特にお気に入り。
上の写真で着ているのは、ミラノにあるミュウ ミュウのお店で買ったオレンジのシャツに、２シーズン前に買ったマルニのパンツ。
服はよくミラノと仕事で行くニューヨークで買うの。
そうね、私はまだ若いし、好きな仕事をやれている、そして太陽が燦々と照らすイタリアの南地方で育ったからイエロー、グリーン、オレンジ、ブルーといったヴィヴィッドカラーをよく着るのかも。
それに好きな仕事を思う存分できているというハッピーでポジティブなエネルギーをヴィヴィットなカラーの服をとおして伝えたいの！！
